Well, it’s April 1st and we all know what that means - before midday, we were vulnerable to pranks and jokes everywhere we turned both off and online. After a merry frolic through the internet today, Artisan has compiled a list of some of our favourite April Fool’s Day jokes and creations in 2019!
PLAY ‘SNAKE’ ON GOOGLE MAPS
Remember the classic phone game Snake? Well, if you opened your Google Maps today, you would’ve been able to access a cute lil version of the game whipped up by the clever developers at Google HQ! All you need to do to play is open the Google Maps app on your Android or iOS device, tap on the menu icon on the top left corner, and hit “Play Snake”. Nice one, Google!
SYDNEY ZOO’S NEW BIN CHICKEN EXHIBIT
Most Australians would already be aware that there’s only one big Zoo in Sydney, and it goes by the name Taronga Zoo, so local eyebrows would have already be raised at the mention of Sydney Zoo in Darling Harbour in this frankly hilarious story claiming that the humble ibis - a bird renown for scavenging through rubbish bins in public places, hence its nickname ‘bin chicken’ - was now going to have its own exhibit.
Emma Malik, Senior Bin Chicken Keeper said the decision to open the new display was a direct response to demand from guests, “We’re regularly asked by our international guests why we don’t have their favourite Australian animal, the majestic Bin Chicken here in the zoo for everyone to admire. “Also known as the Australian White Ibis, we’ve been building a state of the art exhibit that will comfortably home five magnificent Bin Chickens. These include Wynston, Timothy and three females – with the aim to run a unique Bin Chicken breeding program. We’re absolutely delighted that the stars have aligned and we’ve able to meet the planned launch date of 1st April,” added Ms Malik.
Well played, Wild Life Sydney. Well played indeed.
$1 FLIGHTS TO AUSTRALIA FOR BREXIT FLEEING BRITS
Let’s all take a moment to pity the hopeful Brits who might’ve briefly found themselves swept up in the idea of emigrating to Australia in the wake of Britain leaving the EU after spotting Webjet’s ‘1 Dollar Brexit Sale’ (“One Dollarydoo Flights – Yes, You Heard Right.”).
KATHMANDU’S ALL WEATHER ALL TERRAIN WEDDING DRESS
Given how devoted many hikers are when it comes to wearing their activewear to any and all social occasions, it wasn’t COMPLETELY beyond the realm of possibility that Kathmandu would’ve created an all-weather wedding dress. The one minute advert is a thing of wonder (“Can you ever be… TOO READY?” - genius!)
MENULOG LAUNCH MENUPET - ORDER FOOD FOR YOUR PET ONLINE
Honestly, for someone who has found themselves caught between a rock and a hard place (out of dog food, absolutely cannot be bothered leaving the house to acquire some) when it comes to animal degustation, it’s difficult not to feel as though there really might’ve been a market for Menulog’s fake spin-off that delivers pet food to your house!
Nicely done, corporations of the world. Thanks for the LOLs!
