It's time once more for a member of our team to step up to the plate and answer the infamous Artisan InProfile questionnaire! This edition sees Barbara Skanavis, Recruitment Consultant extraordinaire from our Melbourne office, opening up and sharing her innermost thoughts and feelings with us (well, sort of!). Interested? Read on, friend!
What’s your name?
What’s your role at Artisan?
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I was born and bred in the fashion industry so I was largely raised a shopaholic (my time at Coach and Ginger & Smart broke my bank balance!). I'm also pretty sure I'm an old soul - I love music from previous eras - anything from the classic stuff like Billie Holiday right through to the 80s and early 90s. People are always questioning my age - ha!
What is it that you do at Artisan?
Recruiting creative talent in the corporate and government sector.
What do you love most about your job?
Meeting new people - both creative clients and candidates - and also, seeing my candidates turn into clients and vice versa. I love being a part of the journey!
What makes a candidate stand out to you?
Their personality & their passion for design! It's extremely refreshing to see how proud creatives are about their designs, and also how well they are able to articulate what they have actually created in a project.
What is the best advice you've ever been given?
Ooohhh probably from my grandfather - he always says not to worry or stress about situations that may or may not happen, always cross that bridge when you come to it.
Tell us a random fact about you!
I was a ballet dancer once upon a time!
What's your guilty pleasure?
The colour pink - but I think the guys here will tell you there's nothing guilty about it, I'm a shameless girl!
What were you doing prior to joining the Artisan family?
Still recruiting, but more so in the retail corporate space.
What's your best memory so far from your time working at Artisan Recruitment?
There's so many to be honest with you - we're a bit of a tight bunch! I would probably have to say Michael's birthday karaoke earlier this year - there were a few contenders for The Voice there, including myself... NOT! It was a great night!
Thanks Barb! Keep an eye out for the next Artisan InProfile by following us on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn and if you're looking for a new role why not take a look at the jobs we have on offer, and sign up as an Artisan candidate? You know you want to!
