Over the past fortnight since the release of our 'Tall Poppies' videos, we've been receiving requests regarding who performed the intro music. Well, we're pleased to introduce you to the band Victims Of Sound.

Check out the Tall Poppies videos here!

“Remember when you said that this dream was going nowhere?

HA! that was a funny moment...we all had a laugh! But 3 years, guitar strings, denim jeans, leather jackets, ties, vests, blisters, amps, leads, people coming and people going...songs being written, played, tossed aside...people saying we were great, people saying we were shit and people saying we was fab...but just pass over another drink as we raise our glass to the eternal ringing in our collective ear as 4 lads (to the truer sense of the word) prance around a dim lit stage living out all their pubesant fantasies of girls, bars and electric guitars.

But stop to take note and look around...what are we seeing from the front when the light is in our eyes, when everyone goes dark and the guitar has its first strum and the band is in character like someone has just yelled "ACTION" while hitting a clapper board.

"Action indeed" says the man in the back with his left hand hugging a schooner while his right arm hugs his wife.
But to be sure he is noticed he screams it again...but who can hear over the sounds that is a beating drum and loud guitars...being played by hands of Men in the mind set of 14 year old boys.

But as the lights slowly go back on, the stage is clear and reality set in...
Be it a local, a stage, a support slot, a review, a rehearsal or a world tour...if this dream is going nowhere...well nowhere is where I’d like to be…”

Victims of Sound…a Sydney 4 piece who pride them selves on telling stories that we see in our everyday lives but may miss as we’re walking to work in a hurry, running late for the train or just busy behind our desks started life as a bit of a laugh between founding members and old school mates, song writer George Katralis and guitarist James Ezra. The laugh being how could they turn old Dylan folk style songs into Rock n Roll numbers in an attempt to combine George’s love for lyric and James love for melody and bare fingers…so a few drinks, late nights, woken neighbours and chicken burgers latter the Victims of Sound were born in the summer of 2004!

Taking their name from the lyrics of a Bob Dylan song within a few months the live scene was calling quickly as Victims of Sound got the chance to support local boys Blue Gin at the once legendary but now defunct Marquee Club in Sydney’s Inner West…but with out a steady Rhythm section The Boys aided the support of some fill in drum and bass players who helped them out for their first run gigs before latter they were to be joined by friends Matty Chaina on Drums and Dion Beverakis on Bass to complete the line up that we see today.

Since the summer of 2004 Victims of Sound have gone from trying to find their sound in a front bedroom of James’ house and grown into a loud rock n roll band with an old school sound and a reputation for telling a good story while putting on a spectacular live show.

“We’re story tellers that’s all”

Having played and headlined all over Sydney from their beginnings supporting at The Marquee Club to playing Candy’s Apartment in Kings Cross, the UNSW Roundhouse and local favourites The Hopetoun Hotel, Ruby Rabbit, The Sandringham Hotel (which also earnt them a live review in Drum Media, saying that they were “keeping the rock torch burning”), The Hotel Bondi , The Annandale Hotel and to their most recent and proud accolade of supporting one of their favourite bands Melbourne rockers The Pictures (fronted by Davey Lane from You Am I) on their album tour show at Spectrum in Sydney. These boys are no stranger to the big stages, the big shows and to the Sydney live scene.

As well as getting their live show reviewed rather well in Drum Media, Victims of Sound also saw some local praise when they released their first album “Unsmudged Mirror of Innocence” in 2007 to find that it got reviewed as “Indie album of the week” in Sydney Street press magazine The Brag’s land mark 200th issue which also aided them in getting interviewed on air and gaining regular air play on local radio station FBi to coincide with their latest release of the “Mr.Tallpoppy” EP which they brought out on George and James’ own label “Abbott St Records” which earnt them another great honour when the title track from their EP Mr.Tallpoppy got selected to be the theme music for a series of short films which is running in conjunction with the AGIdeas Festival.

This band isn’t your typical posers or fabricated band…they exist to honestly tell people stories of what they might be missing…and what they might see if they just open their eyes once in a while…it’s a beautiful world and someone has to paint its picture.
