Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in the world. It is a country which has suffered decades of civil war, genocide and foreign occupation.

Many Cambodians suffer from extremely difficult living conditions. Amongst the most affected are children who are forced to work long hours in order to supplement their family's meagre income. Many family structures have been destroyed due to the years of mass killings by the Khmer Rouge. Almost the entire educated class was murdered .

It has been an enormous struggle to date, and many communities are bogged down in abject poverty with little chance of a hopeful future. Cambodian communities are bereft of the basic necessities in life. Food, sanitation, safe drinking water, electricity, and education.

Singing Kites endeavours to develop and complete projects that assist in alleviating poverty and suffering amongst the Cambodian people. We are also involved in supporting projects that have been initiated by other organisations.
